Scott currently resides with his partner and 4 dogs in La Crosse Wisconsin where he manages 3 short term rentals, sells aerial photos and coaches CrossFit.

He started riding motorcycles in 1991 but never really put on too many miles as his adventure of choice for many years while living in Colorado was hiking in the foothills near Boulder. He spent 17 years in Colorado earning two Masters Degrees (Writing and Poetics/Curriculum and Instruction), hiking, teaching high school English and raising 3 adopted sons as a single dad.

When life rattled some things loose in 2009, he took his kids to Costa Rica for about a year where he spent his time homeschooling and riding a 125cc dual sport on gravel hills, often weaving around potholes, snakes, monkeys and standing water 2-up (and sometimes even 3-up). One of his greatest feats was riding the moto 6 km on the Costa Rican roads with a cake for his son’s 14th birthday.

When he landed back in the states, adventure was tattooed in his soul. He craved discovery off the beaten path, long stretches of traffic-free roads, and long days in the saddle — sounds cliche but there’s no other way to say it. He bought his first adventure touring bike in 2012 and took his 12 year old son on a moto camping trip from Wisconsin to Colorado. He was hooked. He has since taken several trips on various KTM’s through the west and southwest.

Scott joined Rally for Rangers on their first North American rally in the black hills of South Dakota in September of 2023. It was the classic weather scenario…in the 70s upon arrival and departure, but a rainy 40’s and 50’s during the rally. What hooked Scott in to RfR’s mission was seeing the speechless appreciation of the Lakota rangers upon receiving their night vision gear donated by RfR. Scott is excited to join Rally for Rangers in Bhutan for his first international rally.
