Nasanjargal (Nasaa) is a petroleum engineer with over 25 years of experience. He currently serves as the COO of Petrovis Energy Group LLC, one of Mongolia’s leading energy companies. Under his leadership, Petrovis has proudly supported Rally for Rangers since 2018, providing essential support to rangers working in national parks across Mongolia. This is his fifth rally in Mongolia.
| Growing up in Reno, NV, Bryon took full advantage of the outdoors. Hiking, camping, fly fishing, and mountain biking filled his childhood, and it wasn't until he moved to Berkeley, CA, for college that he got his first taste of motorcycles.
While at UC Berkeley, Bryon helped to build the world's first autonomous motorcycle, Ghostrider. Working on that project got him hooked on motorcycles for life. One bike led to 2, then 3, and is currently at 9, although most of them don't currently work (but will soon.) In 2013, he completed an Iron Butt ride around Nevada and still looks for any opportunity to take on a new challenge or adventure on a motorcycle. When not spending time working on motorcycles and cars, Bryon has a real job working at a company building agricultural robots. After watching "The Long Way Round," Bryon put Mongolia on the top of his bucket list of places to travel. It was a quick decision to join Rally for Rangers after finding out he could ride motorcycles and do something valuable for the national parks of Mongolia and across the world. Bryon has participated in multiple rallies in Mongolia, Namibia, and Nepal. |

Jeff has been riding for twenty years and own an electric Zero SR/F, three off-road dirt bikes, and a sweet little Honda 150 dual sport. I was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and have travelled to 60 or more countries. I started a healthcare company in Nigeria and a nanotechnology company with MIT in Boston. Play the guitar, ski, cycle, bike and hang out with my kids, wife, dog, and cat.
Steven participated in the Mongolian 2023 and 2024 Rally for Rangers and is back for his third Rally for Rangers. His riding journey began with an old orange Yamaha AG175 2-stroke, gifted by his dad in the late 1970s when he was just 14. Since that exhilarating start, Steven's passion for riding has taken him through various terrains and bikes, from enduro and trials to road and now adventure riding.
"I participated in the 2023 and 2024 Mongolian Rally and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, and it was a high point of my year. It was very well run and managed, and now looking forward to doing it again in 2025 with some 2023 and 2024 friends and new people and riding in a different part of Mongolia. Can't wait for it.
At home, I'm still riding Suzuki DR650 and V-Strom 1000, plus an HD Fat Bob and enjoy adventure riding in Australia, mainly around SE Queensland and Northern NSW.”
Originally from Iran, I moved to Germany at the age of 15 and spent the most formative years of my life there before relocating to the US in my early thirties. I completed my high school and university studies in Bochum, a city in the heart of Germany’s old coal and steel region, and later began working in the IT industry. Over the last 30 years, I have worked on large-scale IT system implementations, giving me the opportunity to travel across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia. I currently serve as a managing partner at Reply, a technology consulting firm based in Italy.
As a child growing up in Iran, I dreamt of owning and riding a motorcycle, but wasn’t allowed to (some of my friends had 50cc and 80cc bikes in middle school). In 1999, I finally realized that dream, obtained my motorcycle license, and bought my first motorcycle – a 250cc Honda Rebel. Thanks to a dear friend with decades of experience in travelling by motorcycle, I quickly discovered my passion for long-distance moto travel. About 25 years ago, we began taking annual motorcycle trips together, and occasionally with other friends, exploring much of Western, Central, and Northern Europe, as well as parts of South America and North Africa. We have also done a few rides across the US.
Joining rallies with Rally for Rangers allows me to combine my passion for motorcycle travel with contributing to a worthy cause and being part of a special community. It has been a privilege to be involved with this remarkable group of people.
Max is a veteran (I.e., former semi-professional camper) who has been riding for more than 40 years. The son of immigrants, he resides in Northern Virginia with his wife of 32 years, Maggie. His passion for motorcycling extends to all types of riding (scooters to MX to ADV to Iron Butt) and he has a national endurance road racing championship to his name, as well as moto tours of Iceland, Tasmania, the Alps and the Pyrenees.
Stuart grew up riding dirtbikes, from dry desert lake beds to high mountain trails in California. He first started on a Honda 50 with training wheels and graduated in bike sizes with age. This will be his first Rally and joined by his dad Rick. He is looking forward to the open landscapes and clear skies Mongolia has to offer. Stuart's other interests are outdoor sports and include rock climbing, surfing, hiking with his dog, and wandering with a camera in hand.
Richard “Rick” Thielman is a lifelong resident of Santa Barbara, California. He is a retired construction diver and supervisor who has been motorcycle riding for 55 years, for fun and in organized events up to the national level. His family (wife Susie, and three children) have all learned to ride and participated in his interest full time which required the appropriate fleet of vehicles for family off-road riding. Rick also has more specialized bikes as well as a street bike all the time. The local forest, American deserts, Sierra Mountains, Rocky Mountains, and Northwest area of America were all traversed. He is looking forward to a new experience, and riding in Mongolia with Rally for Rangers.
| Josh Cohen resides in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley with his seventeen-year-old son Everett and thirteen-year-old daughter Ava, where he has owned and operated a certified organic vegetable farm for the past eighteen years. He was first introduced to the world of motorcycles at age eight by his father, and over the following eleven years, they spent more weekends than not exploring the deserts of California on dirt bikes. After taking a break for more than 25 years from riding, Josh obtained his motorcycle endorsement, and purchased a small dual sport motorcycle with which to camp off of and explore the more remote regions of Oregon and California with. Before becoming a farmer, Josh worked as a restoration ecologist for ten years in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties in California, with a focus on preserving rare and endemic plant and insect species. The opportunity to combine his passion for deserts, motorcycle travel, and conservation has him very excited to visit Mongolia’s Gobi Desert with Rally for Rangers in 2025! |
